In short

Use My Mosque to serve your mosque, lawfully and with respect for others. Do not use it to spread hate, harm people, hide or move money unlawfully, collect data you have no right to, or attack or copy the service. Use storage reasonably. If you see abuse, tell us. If these rules are broken, we may remove content or suspend access.

This policy is part of the Terms of Service.

1. Lawful use only

Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in line with the laws of your country, including charity, tax, employment, data protection and sanctions laws.

2. No hate, extremism or violence

You must not use the Service to:

  • promote, support or glorify terrorism, violent extremism or violent groups;
  • incite violence or hatred against anyone because of religion, sect, race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, disability or any other protected trait;
  • recruit for, or spread propaganda of, groups listed as terrorist organisations by the UN, or by the laws that apply to you or to us.

3. No harassment or harm

Do not:

  • harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone;
  • share someone's private data to shame or expose them;
  • post sexual content, content that exploits children, or content that is clearly illegal;
  • impersonate a person, mosque or officer, or pretend to hold a role you do not have.

4. No fraud, money laundering or terror financing

The finance features are for honest record-keeping. You must not use them to:

  • hide, disguise or move funds unlawfully;
  • launder money or help anyone avoid sanctions;
  • finance terrorism or any unlawful group;
  • record false donations, false expenses or fake receipts;
  • make false Gift Aid, tax relief or grant claims;
  • mislead members, donors, auditors, regulators or tax authorities.

My Mosque does not move money. It only records what the mosque tells it. The mosque's officers are responsible for the truth of its records. Where the law requires, we will cooperate with lawful requests from authorities and may report suspected terror financing or money laundering.

5. No unauthorised data collection

  • Collect personal data only for your mosque's legitimate purposes, and with a lawful basis.
  • Do not collect ID papers, signatures or bank details without the person's knowledge and, where needed, consent.
  • Do not copy member lists out of the Service to use for anything other than running the mosque (for example political campaigning or selling).
  • Do not try to see data your role does not allow, or data of another mosque.

6. No scraping, attacks or misuse of the Service

Do not:

  • scrape, crawl or harvest data from the Service by automated means;
  • try to get around security, permissions, the passcode lock, limits or billing;
  • probe, scan or test the Service for weaknesses without our written permission (if you find a security problem, please report it to {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}});
  • overload the Service, send spam, or upload viruses or malicious code;
  • use the Service's interfaces except through our apps and website, unless we allow it in writing.

7. No reverse engineering or copying

My Mosque is closed-source. Do not copy, modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the apps or servers, or build a competing product from them, except where the law expressly allows this despite this rule.

8. Fair use of storage and resources

  • Plans include reasonable use of storage for receipts, documents and photos, and of syncing.
  • Files are limited to 20 MB each and to allowed file types.
  • We do not set a hard storage cap today. If a mosque's storage or traffic is very unusual compared with similar mosques, we will contact the mosque first to understand why and agree a solution (for example tidying up old files, or a plan that fits).
  • We may slow down or limit automated or excessive requests that harm the Service for others.

9. Content of announcements and documents

Mosques are responsible for what they publish in announcements, events, minutes and documents. Respect copyright: do not upload books, recordings or other works you have no right to share.

10. Reporting abuse

If you see something that breaks this policy:

  • Inside your mosque: tell your mosque's officers first.
  • To us: use the contact form in the app or email {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}}. Include the mosque's name and what you saw. Please do not send copies of ID papers or other sensitive data unless we ask.

We review every report. We will not tell the person you reported who you are, unless the law requires it.

11. What we may do

If this policy is broken, we may, depending on how serious it is:

  • contact the mosque's officers and ask them to fix it;
  • remove or hide content;
  • suspend an account or a mosque's space;
  • close an account or space for serious or repeated breaches;
  • report illegal activity to the authorities where the law requires.

Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you first and give you a chance to respond.
